Something from the webpage…when we first started at Grace by Faith Food Pantry we were not having a big response from the community. We had to throw away food.  As the weeks went by and the word got out we started getting more and more families that needed help.  We feed 30-40 families a month, Praise the Lord! Early on we had a mother and son that have some physical difficulties that were coming for food.  They came to my office a couple of weeks ago and asked me if I would be mad if they quit coming to our food pantry. I was kind of surprised by their question. So, I asked why, and the mother said that they wanted others to get the food because they needed it more than they did. I told her that I knew that they needed it and we wanted to keep helping them.  They both insisted that we give their food to someone else.  I almost came to tears at their act of sacrifice to make sure others were fed. That is a Christ-like example that I will not soon forget.

We provide a referral form to verified applicants. Applicants are then able to take this referral form to a local Food Pantry for redemption.

Note: Each Food Pantry can dispense food to individuals at their discretion without the appropriate referral form.

Duplin Outreach Rebuilding Ministry 

(DORM) The organization is a newly created mission under the Duplin Christian Outreach Ministries.  What a wonderful ministry managed by Mr. Garrison, a Volunteer who provides free labor along with other volunteers.  Referrals for this program are made from the Office at 514 S. Norwood Street, Wallace, NC. 28466. 

This program’s mission is to do repairs to improve safety, and health and help the elderly 65 years and older, individuals with disabilities, low income and own their homes.

The Financial Stability Assistance offers assistance with evictions and utility payments and gives clients the tools they need to become financially stable.  All assistance is done in person at our office at 514 S. Norwood Street, Wallace, NC 28466.

Our offices are open from 9-11:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Applicants are discouraged from arriving before 9 am.  Assistance is NOT provided on a first-come, first-served basis, but rather based on the urgency of your emergency.

How the process works:

Our goal is to help each client receive the tools and support they need to move toward financial stability. To do that, we spend time with each client understanding their unique situation and needs.  This can be a time-consuming process, as each client is evaluated on an individual basis.

When you arrive at our office, we will first verify that you have an immediate emergency. Next, we will verify that you have all the required documents (see what to bring). We then evaluate each case and address clients with the most urgent needs first, which we classify as an emergency. An emergency can be someone who is facing eviction that day or has already been evicted. We do not see clients on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Once you are called by a volunteer, you will meet in q private office to discuss your situation. Our volunteers are caring individuals who have been trained to understand many different situations and challenges.  Their goal is to help you keep your home, keep your utilities on, and make a plan for avoiding a financial crisis in the future.

What to bring:

To be seen by a volunteer, you must bring each of the following items:

• Picture ID for the applying client
• Social Security documentation for all household members
• Proof of all household income for the past 30 days. Clients who are paid weekly are required to present four current pay stubs. Clients who are paid bi-weekly are required to present two current paystubs, and clients who are paid monthly are required to present one current paystub. Clients who receive unemployment, SSI or SSA, VA Pension, Retirement Pension, Child Support, Disability, and/or income from family or friends are required to present a statement of income verification. Self-employed clients are required to present income verification.
• All disconnection and past due utility statements.  These should be in the client’s name and that person must reside in the household
• Rental lease

What to expect:

You may have to wait to meet with a volunteer to assess your situation. During your interview, a volunteer will address your current situation and discuss ways to help you move toward financial stability. Following these tips will make your visit less stressful:

Be sure you bring everything listed. We cannot serve you without all of this documentation.

Bring a book or something to read.
